An ivory netsuke of a monkey on a fugu. Late 18th century

Crouching on the flattened blowfish and pressing down its head. The eye pupils of the blowfish of horn.
The subject refers to the monkey calming down a namazu with a gourd and is a travesty of Kadori Myojin calming the earthquake fish.
