An unusual boxwood netsuke of twelve masks. Second half 19th century

The Oni mask at the centre is surrounded by Usobuki, Okina, Saru (monkey), a face with large round eyes, and a face with grim expression, on the reverse Okame and four other masks partly covered by a mask lying face side down, the bridge forming the himotôshi.
