A partly stained ivory netsuke of Ebisu, by Rôhaku. Late 19th century

Standing in a dancing posture on one leg and lifting a huge blow fish (fugu) above his head, the god’s face showing his exertion. The eye pupils of the fish of brown and black horn, the eboshi and hair stained black. Signed Rôhaku in an irregular reserve.
