A boxwood netsuke of an ashinaga with a lobster, by Kazutomo. Late 18th/early 19th century

With curly hair and standing tall on long legs, the ashinaga shoulders a lobster, the sleeves of his robe rolled up, and a straw apron around the hips. The eye pupils of silver, the eyes of the lobster of black glass. Signed Kazutomo in an oval reserve.
Height 11.4 cm

The subject should not be confused with the monk Kensu Ôsho with a shaved head capturing a lobster.
