Unfortunately, as a result the majority of her early work was lost. In West Berlin, she began a series of over-painted art postcards, and from the 1990s, subjects included large format melancholic portraits of women and children in strong, bright acrylic paints and shellac. At the same time, she also made photographic self-portraits. In the 1990s and 2000s, she received numerous work and travel scholarships to, among others, New York, Asia and Africa. In 2004, she was awarded the Gabriele-Münter-Prize and the Fred-Thieler-Prize. Since 2005, she has been working as a Professor at the Kunstakademie Münster. Her works are found in important collections worldwide including the J. Paul Getty Musuem in Los Angeles and the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden.
