Gouache and India ink on printed paper, glued on card by the artist 9.8 x 14.1 cm, in original artist's frame. Signed, dated and titled 'Effacement Man Ray 1956' in India ink lower margin. - Minor studio traces.

Man Ray had a special attitude towards any of the objects he encountered. A coloured label was enough for him to turn it into a work of art in a small number of steps and indeed with that characteristic playfulness which was so typical of his approach. Man Ray always endeavoured to be experimental, seeking to make enjoyable discoveries and to find new poetic realities. In English, the title means "Obliteration".
