An illegible dedication to the top centre.
Thanks to a grant, Josef von Führich was able to live in the Eternal City from 1827 to 1829, where he had connections to the Nazarenes. During this time he also travelled to Milan, as noted on this sketch, and obviously viewed Leonardo's "Last Supper" in Santa Maria delle Grazie, upon which this head of Christ sketch is based.
