A carved wood high relief Anna Selbdritt group, presumably Upper Rhine Region, circa 1480

Probably carved from limewood, the reverse flattened and hollowed out. Extensive remains of older polychromy. The full-figure of Saint Anne designed for a frontal viewpoint, wearing a red garment and a blue-gilded mantle ruffled in front of the body with heavy drapery at her front. Saint Anne holds the Child as well as her daughter, the Virgin, in her hands.
Hands of the Virgin lost. The hem of Anna's robe beneath the Virgin replaced. With wear. Height 69 cm.
