"Flügel, one of Demand's very few photographs to show individuals, gives us all the participants in a given person's (presumably the artist's own) life story, without supplying the narrative thread that ties them together as the reason for their atomized cohabitation on top of the piano. By not telling a story and yet giving us all of the setting, Demand pulls us in."
