A small red lacquer seal netsuke of an elephant. 19th century

The richly caparisoned animal stands upright with raised head and stylized facial features and a tiny trunk, the base is carved with a seal character probably reading kotobuki, on the side of the base the small character hô, meaning direction (how to hold the seal when printing).
