This exceedingly fine and detailed wooded landscape is reminiscent of the works of the Flemish artists active in Prague at the Court of Rudolf II. These included Roeland Savery, Lucas van Valckenborch and Pieter II Stevens, but this unsigned work cannot safely be attributed to any of them. The only certainty is that the painter of this piece must have been familiar with the work of Jan Breughel the Elder.
