Five pairs of Birds with their Nests

Watercolour on paper. Each 34.5 x 21.5 cm.

These five vivid watercolours are based on pieces done by Johann Müller for his book "Die vorzüglichsten Sing-Vögel Teutschlands mit ihren Nestern und Eyern nach der Natur abgebildet und aus eigener Erfahrung beschrieben", published in Nuremberg in 1799 - 1800. The work was published in four volumes, each comprising six coloured engravings with an accompanying text describing the birds depicted.
