A carved wooden figure of John the Baptist, probably Alpine, 1st quarter 15th century

Carved in the round and partially freestanding. Extensive remains of older polychromy, the reverse partially overpainted.. A standing figure of the saint designed for a frontal viewpoint. St. John is depicted in his characteristic hair shirt and holds a relief with the lamb of God in his left hand.
The right hand and parts of the base lost due to insect damage. Some wear. Height 60 cm.
