An early Meissen porcelain ecuelle and saucer

Tapering bowl with angular handles, the domed lid with a coral-form finial. Decorated to the bowl and saucer with finely painted Chinoiserie scenes in large gilt lace cartouches with feather trim and purple lustre. Three corresponding smaller fields to the lid. Both pieces with gilt mark Z. Unusual vermeil mountings with engraved prongs holding the lid, and a holder for the bowl with perfectly preserved gilding. Maker’s mark of Johann Philipp I Schuch (active 1687 - 1733, Seling no. 1829) and Augsburg hallmarks of 1724 – 28 (Seling no. 1590). Wear to the gilding. H tureen 11 cm, D saucer D 15.7 cm.
Decor attributed to Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt, before 1728.
