We would like to thank Katrin Arrieta of the Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop and the author of the catalogue raisonné Konrad Mahlfeld, Magdeburg, for kind confirmatatory information and support.
K. Mahlfeld very kindly informed us that the landscape shown here is the countryside surrounding the “Dornenhaus”, also known as “Vogelbeerhof”, one of the oldest houses in Ahrenshoop. Paul Müller-Kaempff was the founder and best-known representative of the Darss artists' colony from 1889 onwards. He had previously received his training at the best academies of art at the time - in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe and Berlin. Around 1911, when he had become extremely well-known, he relocated his main place of residence from the Baltic back to Berlin.
