An ivory netsuke of Shôki, by Sansui. Early 19th century

Seated with boots placed sole to sole, the captured oni tied up in a furoshiki slung over his back, the demon's face visible through a hole in the fabric. Finely incised garment patterns, a green pearl to his cap. Signed Sansui.
Height 2.7 cm; width 3.8 cm
