A fine Nagoya school cherrywood netsuke of a tanuki and a hunter, by Ichimin. Mid-19th century

A screaming hunter is smothered by the huge distended scrotum of a tanuki, the badger standing on top, the underside carefully carved with the sandaled feet, the large straw hood and the gun of the hunter. Signed Ichimin with kaô.
Height 2.5 cm; width 3.7 cm
