A 17th century Flemish carved ivory Corpus Christi

Carved in the round, the arms and fluttering lappet of the perizonium attached. A depiction of Christ crucified with four nails, His arms extended upwards and His head leant to the side. The finely depicted facial features, anatomy, and drapery of the perizonium harmonise to create a highly expressive piece.
Drilled holes to the hands and feet. Minor vertical hairline cracks. Yellowing. Height 57 cm, width of arms 38 cm.
