A Berlin KPM framed porcelain plaque with a view of Sanssouci palace.

The view shows the southern side of the palace with the vineyard and fountain. Impressed sceptre mark above KPM, impressed letter H. 28.3 x 38.5 cm.
Ca. 1845. The painting based on a work by Carl Daniel Freydanck from 1843.

Frederick II's failed attempts to launch the fountain in the gardens of Sanssouci are well-known - he had the pleasure of watching it running for just one hour on the Good Friday of 1754. The fountain was first made operational under the reign of Frederick William IV in October of 1842. Together with Jean Baptiste Pigalle and Francois Gaspard Adam's sculptures, the fountains are still a highly popular attraction for the park's visitors to this day.
