John Rawlings, comparatively unknown in Europe, is counted among the most productive commercial photographers of the 20th century. Working over the course of three decades for Condé Nast, his pictures have been published on more than 200 covers of Vogue and Glamour. The portrait presented here shows Cecil Beaton whom he assisted during his early period at Vogue Studios and who distinctively influenced his early fashion photographs.
