Heinrich Nauen - Kornweihe
Heinrich Nauen
Kornweihe
1920s
Oil on canvas 70.3 x 54.3 cm Framed. Signed and barely legibly dated 'H. Nauen. 0. 21.' (?) lower left. - Overall with slight surface rubbing and some minimal losses of colour. Tiny retouchings in places.
This painting originates from the possession of the former ranger of the beech forest at Dilborn castle in the lower Rhine region, where the artist couple Heinrich Nauen and Marie von Malachowski lived from 1911 to 1931. It is difficult to decipher the painting's date. According to Klara Drenker-Nagels, the painting was probably created in the 1920s. At the time when the catalogue raisonné was compiled, the painting was not yet known - particularly due to the fact that it had been in family possession at that time and was never exhibited.
