"I believe that it is a purely natural endeavor for an artist today to react to an environment, as it is the traffic with all its visual and pictorial characters. A world, which demands a new reaction from us, and which, through a wealth of constructive pictorial elements, is a symbol for a new 'landscape'. At the very least it places accents into the heretofore accepted painterly landscape model, bringing classification to nature, all of which bear the stamp of new attitudes in our society. It may well be typical for this world of visual language that we no longer respond directly to the givens of reality, but the generally understood vocabulary of signs helps us to 'function' smoothly and coordinately. Even within the most ordered and perfect functioning world, us artists have, then, the right to reflect 'dreamily'."
