A transparent blue glass footed bowl with matching lid. Yongzheng mark and possibly of the period
A transparent blue glass footed bowl with matching lid with a concave body with everted rim, set on an almost vertical foot, the slightly domed lid with a spherical knob, wheel engraved decoration of shou medallions surrounded by abstract scrolls resembling dragons. Engraved four-character mark Yongzheng to the outer rim and possibly of the period. Tiny traces of gilding. Box.
Height 14 cm; diameter 17 cm
Such bowl may have been produced by court order on the occasion of the Emperor's birthday and placed as a food container on an altar. The bowl's distinctive shape calls to mind offering bowls known as qingshuiwan (pure water bowls), used in Buddhist ceremonies.
