Signed and dated lower left: RWeiss 28 (R and W joined).

Weiß not only worked as a painter, but also as a typographer and poet. He taught at the painting school of the Folkwang Museum in Hagen as well as the Berlin School of Applied Arts (Berliner Kunstgewerbeschule). He married the sculptor Renée Sintenis in 1917.
