A Meissen porcelain figural group "The Surprise". Blue crossed swords mark with dot and two further dots - possibly painter's marks. One lady's hand reattached, the raised hand of the standing gentleman erroneously replaced. H 23.7 cm.
The model attributed to Johann Joachim Kaendler, ca. 1770, after a copperplate print by William Hogarth.
