A 12-piece Parisian vermeil cutlery set from the Schaffer Collection. Comprising four knives, forks and spoons resp. with polychrome porcelain handles. In a fitted case with the signet "Russian Imperial Treasures, Inc.". Marks of Hippolyte Thomas, mid 19th C. L of knives 21 cm.

Provenance

According to tradition, the pieces originate from the estate of Tsar Nicholas II; cf. the sale catalogue of "The Schaffer Collection of Russian Imperial Art Treasures", New York 1936, position 166 B., private collection, Rhineland.
