Signed and dated lower centre: C.W. Allers 88 Hamburg.

In 1888, the year this drawing was made, Allers achieved popularity with his portfolio "Club Eintracht". Several other printed series of works and illustrated books were to follow, and these were so successful that the artist was able to afford a house in Karlsruhe in 1890 and a Villa in Capri in 1892 where he received prominent German and foreign guests.
