Johann Meinrad Guggenbichler, attributed to

A carved limewood figure of Christ blessing, attributed to Johann Meinrad Guggenbichler.

Carved three-quarters in the round, the lower section of the reverse flattened and deeply hollowed out. With the original polychromy and gilding.. Designed for a lowered viewpoint. The work can be dated to around 1710/1715 and depicts a half-length figure of Christ dressed in a golden robe. He inclines His head towards the beholder whilst His right hand points towards heaven. The inscription upon the cartouche to the front of the work has not survived.
In good condition, with minor hairline cracks. 66 x 63 x 28 cm.
