Rinaldo Rinaldi

A marble group of two children.

Carved in the round.. A figure of a nude boy reclining on a rock being washed by a girl standing by his side dressed in a cloth. The group is signed "R Rinaldi F" to the back of the earth mound base. Rinaldo Rinaldi visited the academy in Rome and became the favourite pupil of Antonio Canova, inheriting his workshop following the master's death in 1822 and continuing his Neoclassical style.
With minimal wear and localised soiling, mounted on a dark marble plinth. 90 x 80 x 34 cm.
