Two Berlin KPM porcelain armorial plates

Decorated with the coat-of-arms of Duke Georg von Mecklenburg-Strelitz and the device "Thue recht und scheue niemand.", the border of faux-lapis lazuli. Blue sceptre mark, red imperial orb mark, painter's mark, impressed 17. Diameter 24 cm.
Ca. 1835.

Frederick William III presented his son in law Duke Georg von Mecklenburg-Strelitz (1779 - 1860) with a dinner service decorated with strelitzia plants. These flowers were closely related to the Ducal family as they were named after the Mecklenburg Princess Charlotte, who became Queen of England in 1761 through her marriage to George III.
