A Berlin inlaid mahogany desk

A brass-mounted writing desk with three drawers on turned legs. Restored. H 84, W 121, D 75 cm.
Ca. 1830 - 40, presumably after a design by Karl Friedrich Schinkel.

Stiegel grouped together a series of pieces of furniture which were made for the royal family based on designs by Karl Friedrich Schinkel. The most important of these was the desk which originally stood in King Frederick William III's study in the Neues Pavillion in Charlottenburg Palace (cf. Stiegel, Berliner Möbelkunst, Berlin 2003, p. 425 ff. pl. 35.1.).
