The border decorated with gilt palmettes, the cuvette with Greek key pattern, the centre depicting the youthful Hercules wearing the pelt of the Nemean lion. Blue sceptre mark, stamped eagle mark with KPM, incised III and 32. Minor wear to the gilding of the centre. Diameter 24.5 cm.
1825.

Numerous pieces of this extensive service, presented to Princess Louise on occasion of her marriage to Prince Frederick of the Netherlands in 1825, were sold in London in 1967. Pieces from this service, decorated with wreaths of German native flowers and gilt lace edging, have been appearing on the market ever since. This service also included 50 dessert plates, 12 of which were decorated with faux-cameo motifs, the rest with landscapes or fruit and flower still lifes.

Two other plates of this type sold in the Lempertz Berlin auction of 27.5.2006 are today part of the Twinight collection and are illustrated and described in Raffinesse & Eleganz, Munich 2007, cat. 15.
