A Frederician gilt copper mounted snuff box with enamel decor

Decorated throughout with motifs from the Seven Years' war, including maps of Saxony and a depiction of the Prussian siege of Königstein Fortress. Minimal hairline cracks to the enamel of the underside. 4 x 8.2 x 6.5 cm.
Berlin, ca. 1756.

The battle of Pirna in October 1756 marked the beginning of the Seven Years' war. Following the lengthy siege of Königstein Fortress, to which the Saxon Prince-Elector August II had withdrawn, his army eventually surrendered and was incorporated into the Prussian forces.
