Georgian peasant woman with a basket of grapes

Red jubilee mark for first choice. Chip to glaze of the front of the base, minor wear to the gilding. H 18.7 cm.

This figure with finely painted features and almost classical poise depicts a proud peasant woman carrying a basket of grapes on her left shoulder. The figure is typical of Danko's late phase, in which she was strongly influenced by Neoclassicism.
