This watercolour is the model for an illustration in Johann Müller's publication "Die vorzüglichsten Sing-Vögel Teutschlands mit ihren Nestern und Eyern nach der Natur abgebildet und aus eigener Erfahrung beschrieben", which was published in Nuremberg in 1799/1800. The work comprised four volumes, each one with six coloured engravings and accompanying text. Five other watercolours from this series were sold by Lempertz on 25.11.2014 as lot 1154.
