Bronze Height 38.7 cm. Mounted on medium brown wooden base (5 x 18 x 18 cm) Signed 'Seitz' on the back of the neck at the left and with foundry mark "GUSS BARTH RINTELN" below. Grohn mentions 5 casts, i.a. at Museum der Bildenden Künste, Leipzig, and at Thomas-Mann-Gesellschaft, Lübeck. - With black brown patina, partially with traces of greenish oxidation.
Gustav Seitz personally handed over the bust to Thomas Mann in Kilchberg on the occasion of his 80th Birthday, a few months before his death.
