An early 16th century South German carved wooden figure of a Holy Bishop

Carved three-quarters in the round, the reverse flattened and hollowed out. With older partially retouched polychromy.. A figure of a saint in bishop's robes holding a church model in his left hand, depicted standing on a moulded plinth and designed for a frontal viewpoint. The work's composition is dominated by the voluminous folds of the golden cope which the figure holds drawn about his body.
The tip of the church spire missing. Some wear. Height 103 cm.
