Most of what we know about Georges Michel's life is derived from records kept by his widow. He never signed his works out of principal, and very rarely dated them. His paintings, like the present work, often show the then rural area around Montmartre with its many windmills.
This work is to be included in the forthcoming catalogue raisonné of this artist currently being prepared by Mr. Michel Schulman in Paris.
