This small-scale work combines Cornelis Springer's talent for depicting architecture in brisk but finely applied brushstrokes with Hermanus Koekoek's skill in painting dramatic, stormy seas. Alongside his collaboration with Koekkoek, Springer also collaborated on works with Louis Apol and Pieter Lodewijk Francisco Kluyver.
