Estimate: 4.000 € - 6.000 €

A Berlin KPM porcelain vase with dandelion decor

With running copper oxide glaze. Blue sceptre mark, incised QXIIIS, model no. 6278, year letter O, painter's monogram TH D235. H 34.8 cm.
1914, modelled by Gottlieb Elster, December 1899.

Albert Heinecke, head of the chemical and technical laboratories at KPM, was the man responsible for such daring experiments as this one. In this decor, three-dimensional appliques formed from a frit mass without feldspar were applied to the hard porcelain body to increase its stability, and then the entire piece was splattered with a metal oxide glaze developed by Hermann August Seger and fired.
