A Berlin KPM porcelain figure of a gnu rider from the "Indian Procession" series

Blue sceptre mark, red imperial orb mark, model no. 10771, year letter W, impressed marks. H 25.7 cm.
1922, modelled by Carl Reschke, the decor designed by Gertrud Kant.

In contrast to Adolph Amberg's Wedding Procession series, the forms used in the "Indianischer Festzug" (Indian Procession) series designed by the Solingen sculptor Carl Reschke were of a much more conservative character. The series was realised in 1913 but remained incomplete due to the outbreak of the war. We know of five large groups modelled by Reschke: The gnu rider, monkeys in a wheelbarrow, a bagpipe player, an Indian man with panthers, and a camel rider.
