A Berlin KPM porcelain tureen from the service for Prince Heinrich

Of rounded, bulbous form with two asymmetrical handles and a large rose form finial. Decorated with "deutsche blumen" in the early polychromy. Blue sceptre mark to the inside of the tureen, impressed 2 22. Restorations over firing faults to the rose, the small leaves and a firing crack to the base of the handle. With noticably ground down firing supports. H ca. 17, W 27 cm.
Circa 1766/67.

A service with a capuchin brown rim decorated with "deutsche blumen" is recorded as having been produced for the court of Prince Heinrich (1726 - 1802) at Rheinsberg Castle, and this tureen was almost certainly a part of it. The masterful rendering of the design and the fineness of the decor both speak for an origin in such an illustrious commission.
