A pair of Meissen porcelain plates made for Frederick II

With Marseille relief decor, loosely painted flowers and fruits to the centre, and bordered by reserves with exotic birds. Blue crossed swords mark, impressed 22. Diameter 23.8 cm.
Circa 1760.

Samuel Witwer mentions a table service with relief flowers, crocodile shells, Indian birds, flowers, fruits, and a golden border, which Frederick II ordered from Meissen together with a further service in the first part of 1760 (p. 50).
