A Meissen porcelain model of a seated wolf

Indistinct blue crossed swords mark to the unglazed base, cancellation mark, model number 1243, impressed number 85, painted black 6. H 14.5 cm.
18th C., the model attributed to Johann Joachim Kaendler.

Kaendler modelled the first wolf for Meissen (an Indian wolf) in July 1734 based on the wolves kept live and stuffed by the Saxon court.
