A Limoges enamel plaque with the deposition from the cross

Polychrome painted enamel with opaque white highlights, transluscent enamel, and gold foil (?) on a slightly arched copper panel. Remains of reddish brown or transluscent counter enamel. A rare large panel depicting five figures surrounding Christ in the centre. The surface slightly porous in places, old retouches over cracks and losses, including to the face of Christ (yellowed). In a later textile covered frame. H 27.7, W 21.5, H of frame 47.5, W 41.5 cm.
