A large Meissen porcelain clock case

Designed as an asymmetrical pedestal painted with Watteau scenes supporting a cartouche-form clock surround, winged head of Chronos, a female allegory, and a putto playing with a dog. Indistinct blue crossed swords mark to the ground down base. Restorations to the two back feet (possibly over firing cracks), one of the putto's legs and one finger reattached. H 39.1 cm, containing a French day-running pocketwatch movement with verge escapement.
