Cleaning and restoration of this work, which is attributed to Joost Cornelisz. Droochsloot, revealed a small, overpainted seated figure in the lower left corner. The inscription “D. TENIERS F.” on the front of the cart is a later addition that was subsequently painted over the varnish, but has been left intact.
