The Virgin Mary with the Arma Christi

Oil on canvas (relined). 95 x 76 cm.

This composition follows that of a famous altarpiece painted by Francesco Trevisani for the Church of St. Mary in Vallicella, the so-called Chiesa Nuova. The church was built at the behest of St. Filippo Neri for his Oratorian order, and was furnished among others with works by Peter Paul Rubens.
