The Mourning Cupid by Cesare Lapini

Marble, carved in the round and partially freestanding. The piece depicts the winged figure of Cupid seated on an ivy clasped tree stump. He covers his face with a thin cloth pulled over his head and wings and holds his arrows lowered at his back. Designed as a sepulchral monument, the piece is signed “C. Lapini” to the back left.
Minor bluish stains to the back left of the plinth, otherwise in good overall condition. Height 93 cm.
