Literature

Cf. an identical group in the Pauls Collection, Riehen (cat. Porzellan des 18. Jahrhunderts vol. I, Frankfurt 1967, p. 266 f.), and a third in the collection of Dr. Ernst Schneider (in Rückert, Munich 1966, no. 869). This publication also includes a reference to Kaendler’s workshop records “1 small group, a woman finely dressed in an Andrijan and a shepherd in his garb embracing one another with a lamb, 12 taler” (ibid. 168). The author rightly notes that the lady is not wearing an Adrienne, thus there must have been at least one other version of this group.
